 Position Announcement – Executive Director

Christian Social Services Inc. (CSSI) dba the Monticello Help Center is seeking applicants for the Executive Director position to oversee our food shelf and clothing operations. Executive Director Position Profile

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, planning, and management of all operations and resources of the MHC in accordance with the strategic direction, mission, vision, and policies set by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director ensures the progress and development of the organization’s programs and the supervision of all staff members and volunteers. The Executive Director sustains our relationships with our public including our donors, clients, the media, religious and business communities, the food bank network, government agencies, and other human service providers.  This position is budgeted at 30 hours a week.

Executive Director will:

  • Serve as the spokesperson for the organization, communicating MHC’s purpose and programs to the public.

  • Ensure that relationships with customers, donors, volunteers, and the community are handled in a manner consistent with organizational values and mission of CSSI.

  • Work with the board to develop appropriate annual and long-term financial objectives, and lead the organization in achievement of those financial goals.

  • Secure grants and related funding from governmental and private organization sources. 

  • Oversee the development of new programs and evaluate existing programs.

  • Demonstrate the ability to relate to persons of diverse ages, backgrounds, skills and abilities.

Education

College degree preferred or a combination of education and experience in related areas.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Commitment to and a passion for MHC’s mission and vision.

  • Management level experience in a nonprofit organization.

  • Grant writing and fundraising experience.

  • Five or more years managing staff and volunteers.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in a food bank, working on issues related to hunger, or advocacy on behalf of low-income families.

Leadership Skills

Excellent oral and written communications, strong interpersonal and networking ability; strategic thinking and business awareness; dedication to diversity and inclusion. A successful candidate will also demonstrate honesty, integrity, and a commitment to the mission of the MHC.

Salary Range

Competitive and based on qualifications.

References & Background Information

A background and reference check will be completed before an offer of employment is made. For candidates who advance to the latter stages of the process, we may ask for three references that could include a supervisor, a peer, and a subordinate, when applicable.
